I was pondering about getting a roof rack, but wanted to know who makes good racks, how they affect mpg's, and overall reviews... pics are welcome

does anyone know if u have 2 drill holes or modify the roof to install yakima roof rack or any rack 4 our xb's?

i wanna get a rack but if i have to drill or anything then 4get it

 

thats whats holding me back as well cause I wanna be able to take it off and put it on whenever I want to....

 

i believe not, my buddy has a yakima roof rack on his audi a4. he didnt have to drill any holes and it was pretty secure. i do recommend not going into garages with a bike on your roof rack, because that's what he did. he now has a nice 10 inch gash on his roof

i have a Yakima Rack... you don't have to drill holes if you get the one the clamps on. In regards to MPG, maybe I lost 2 mpg or so...

 

Get a big rack... Might as well get what you pay for.

Just go to yakima.com and it will tell you exactly what to get for your specific car. If you want to save some money, I suppose you can get all the correct part numbers and buy some used rack stuff on ebay.

i bought my base rack brand new, but bought my bike rack used on ebay for a lot less once I got familiar with the rack.
