Time to put that $100 savings into a new set of OEM fog lights.

Indeed! The problem now is that I already bought the $50 oem switch! Oh well, I also have a $500 PnP harness and $300 FIC that didn't make the grade. I guess I got away easy with the $150 Ebay fog lights...

$150
I'm guessing that includes the price of the switch... it would have only been $186 for the whole OEM kit.

Fred,

Buy another set of the ebay fog lights, but this time put clear lens protectors on.

just found out, a buddy of mine that has the OEM toyota fogs had a rock take out one of his. It could always be worse. take out $100 fogs, or take out the god knows how much installed by dealer fogs.

Prices have changed since I bought over a year ago. Back then I couldn't find the oem fogs for under $200 and the ebay fogs were in the ~$125 range. IIRC I paid $40 for the oem switch recently. In any case, I would have been better off buying the oem fogs but back then, no one really knew. It's not like making heat/impact resistant glass lenses is high tech but as is typical with Chinese manufacturers, if they can save a few yuans by cutting corners and producing a crap product, they'll happily do it.

You may be right but what bothers me is that my fogs are installed behind a Fig grill. It had to be a very small rock that got through or possibly the ebay glass is too thin or not properly tempered and cracked due to water hitting it when hot. I really don't know what caused the lense to crack.

I dont know man, my xb's my daily commuter, and doing about 50 miles round trip to work, going through construction zones every day (i take I95 in philly daily) I've never had an issue with my fogs.

I bought my car in august, installed the fogs i think in early Sept., and now i have just a little over 14k on my car. no issues yet.

I dunno. Perhaps the best info I can offer is this:

The ebay fog light switch stuck until modified and it fried my dimmer circuit and blew a fuse if the dimmer was turned down too low. I had the ebay fogs installed behind a protective Fig mesh grill and they lasted just over 1 year (15,000 miles) before a lense cracked.

My daughter has a 2001 Corolla with oem Toyo fogs and they've held up for 9 years and 100,000 miles. I did have to polish the lenses recently but that's expected after 100k miles.

I Got two sets of HID's from HIDExtra, 6000k for the headlights and 5000k for the Fogs, not only does it look cool as ____ but it is BUH-RIGHT!!!! Like the heavens opened up! The warmer color of the 5000k fading into the slightly blueish tinge in the distance looks so cool. Had to zip tie the balasts to the outside aspect of the pillers that hold the radiator, but have had no problem with moisture or anything, and I live in washington.

I paid $205 for my OE fogs from Sparks as part of a multi-item purchase back when I bought my 2008. At least the shipping cost was amortized ! I'm so far entirely happy with everything I got from Sparks (including the rapid turnaround with two day ground shipping from their East Coast location) and they are helpful enough to provide the installation PDFs on their site. I hope people here who download their PDF's show appreciation by buying at least some items from them.

Default HELP!! please (:

So I need to get my boyfriend a Christmas present...pressure got UPed (I know, not a word, whatever) when he got a box delivered yesterday while I was there, and he said that I couldn't look in it because my present was in there. I really don't know what to get him, but he totally loves his 2009 Scion xB (I joke around and say to him he loves his car more than he loves me). I was thinking fog lights, but I don't know anything about them...how to install or if I would have to buy other parts to get it installed...please please pleeease help me!

Here are the installation instructions. Everything necessary comes with the real Toyota fogs. I recommend staying away from the cheap eBay knock-offs.

You're welcome... and the way to make sure he keeps lovin' you more than the xB is to keep buying him parts to continue modding it.
