We have done it! Kai Hei Tai Performance has built an AWD Scion xB2. Check it out at Scion's www.battleofthebuilds.com website.

Not going to lie, those other designs look atrocious. I like yours, but am saving my full judgement for the final product.

Good Luck.

Unfortunately we will not have a kit. All three of the teams in the competition are active duty service members. In order to make it work we had to do a lot of fabrication for the rear drive axle. We have learned a lot about what works and what doesn't. If you look at "BOTB The Final Round" tab you will find Sapper's and Salty Dog's final products. I just submitted our final product last night for the blog so it should be looked at and posted in the next day or so.

I could totally use this as I'm working at 9600' in elevation in CO this winter for the first time since I've owned my xB- Shes used to the central Cali coast, not snow covered roads! Time to put my stock springs back on and find some good snow tires(maybe even studs too!)

That is bad ___ and actually makes the new '11 larger bumpers look good. Got to hand it to you guys, that was a lot of work and it came out killer.

It is. We had to have a custom driveline made to get the power to the rear but it is truely All Wheel Drive.

The one thing i love best is that I own a 2011 xB, and now I know what can be done to it! Again, VERY COOL BUILD!!! I know how you feel, I hated to see the squid go, and i know you must feel the same.

A big part of our concept was to keep our Assault in the Toyota family. We sourced all of our AWD parts except for our driveshaft from Toyota vehicles. Toyota of the Desert's Parts manager was huge in helping us figuring out what "should and shouldn't" work. We spent a huge amount of the first few weeks of the build focused on researching the AWD. The 2" lift is for a FJ Cruiser and most of the AWD parts come from different models of RAV4 and Matrix. If money were not capped as it was we wouldn't have had to fabricate as much as we did but it was a really cool experience and a tremendous opportunity afforded to us by Scion.

jntjohnson, I have to say I'm really impressed with how your portholes and paint came out. Very clean job Shipmates!
