Airbag issues
Quick background: I have a 2008 xB. A couple years ago the airbag light came on, was told it was the spiral cable. Being not rich I replaced it with an aftermarket one that cost $35 or so. That one worked for about a year, then the light came back on. Started out being on intermittently, could never figure out what would cause it to be lit or not. Eventually it stayed on. I figured it was the spiral cable again, but still didn't want to pay $300 for a new one, so decided to risk my safety without it (i know, not the brightest). About a year or so later, just driving down a neighborhood, my horn starts going off whenever I turn the wheel. Awesome. Pulled the plug and bought an OEM clock spring and put it in. Horn works again, but the light is still on. Tried resetting by unplugging the batt for a couple hours, and by pulling the corresponding fuse. Light is still on.
Question is, what else could be causing the light to be on? Is there something else in the airbag system that I can check? Heard something about the sensors in the seat, could one or both of those have gone bad? All the wires that I can see look good.

Check the plug under the passenger seat. This is the one that always wiggles slightly loose on me. Also it could be the passenger side dash airbag. There is currently a recall on them.

I haven't checked the cable under the passenger seat. would that make the light on the main dash light up or the passenger indicator?
I'll check it anyway. I have already had the recall taken care of. Thanks!

I had a Ram 1500 with a messed up clock spring and it did something similar. It also had the Takata airbag recall on the passenger side as well. (Same thing with my '11 xB oddly enough).
I would most definetly inspect the cable.
Hope to hear from you soon!

So my light never came on until Toyota did the recall fix on my car. Now my Airbag light comes on intermittently. They stated the spiral cable was shortening or open and to buy a spiral cable ($500+) PN: 84306-0E010. I am going to purchase an aftermarket part and see if it works. I will update with the results when I get it.
please if anyone else has already installed theirs and having issues please respond to this post.
