Thats true for price but I guarantee that you will get more power from the unichip. I've got one in my xB and its way faster than an xB with intake, exhaust, and pulleys. Granted it is expensive though...

I'm leaning towards the chip, because I have had them in the past (Superchips on two diff trucks). Pulleys just bother me for some reason.

Anywho, I think this may be my after Christmas gift to myself

Right now i have the TRD intake and Tsudo cat back, I wanna get the Weapon R header and s-pipe and pullys next. I think im gonna go with the unichip and see what gain's i get from there tune. I found a place here in Miami that is a Unichip tuner so maybe they can tweek it a bit more or even dyno tune it for me.......

No offense meant but lightweight pulleys add little to no measurable HP (bhp or whp). Lightweight underdrive pulleys add a little. +15bhp is the same as +15whp since the parasitic drivetrain loss is the same regardless. Roughly 10hp for MT and 30hp for AT.

Also, the only reason to need a Unichip tuner is if you're running boost. Their "canned" tunes are fine for bolt-on mods. If you're serious enough about tuning, you can also buy your own Unichip tuning software for $300 and tune your own.

I am in no way endorsing the Unichip as a NA performance add-on but it probably does add ~15hp. If that's worth $500 to you, you'll probably be happy with it.

A lot of problems with pulley's we have seen is they are unbalance. An unbalance pulley can throw a rod through your engine block. We just had a friend throw a rod due to an unbalanced pulley.

The UniChip adds more horsepower on one item then what you will get out of intake and exhaust. What UniChip does is maximize the horsepower out of those add-ons you buy for your vehicle. It is also great for boosted cars because of the tuning available from UniChip.

We have an associate here who has UniChip on his 2008 xB with TRD intake and Boral exhaust. It feels just as powerful as the supercharger used to. If you guys have any questions on UniChip or need to know anything you can ask us directly. My wife also has a UniChip on her tC with a few modifications. We are all pretty knowledgeable about UniChip now and have a direct contact for any hard questions.

I too have the UNICHIP. I had everything done at once and he stated he noticed the biggest difference when the UNICHIP went on.

If your gonna get a UNICHIP you need to have the other bolt-ons to notice the difference. Also the UNICHIP can knock the speed limiter off as well. Engine will pull a lot harder when you push it harder.

I'm happy with mine....Not getting a dyno because I don't think its worth it find out I gained an extra 20-25whp when I already know the answer. Now if I ever decide to boost, thats a different story.

There are lightweight pulleys and then there are lightweight pulleys. It all comes down to the pedigree (ie engineering) of each individual pulley. There are good reliable brands out there for our cars, but if the owner chooses to get any old thing off Ebay, watch out !

Regarding power -- a lightweight pulley will definitely lift the numbers on a dynamometer run due to their lower inertia. However, they don't help power at constant rpm. So if you're accelerating, they have something to offer, but for just plain pulling, forget it.
