Default Unichip Numbers Released

I was checking out Unichip's website and noticed that they have dyno's up for the tC. Looks like they have to 2 pre-set maps available for their PnP unit for the tC. A map for stock setups, and a map for vehicles w/ a header an exhaust system. What concerns me is that they have it listed as a TRD header and TRD catback exhaust, of which TRD offers neither of. I'll email them shortly regarding this to see if there's an explanation. But whatever header and exhaust they did use to dyno test, showed a power loss across the entire powerband over stock before the Unichip. Barring those discrepancies, the gains for the stock map look very good, with an avg. gain of 5.4hp and 5.6 lbs-ft of torque across the powerband, and a max gain of 14hp at 6500 RPM. Please note, that these dynos show data corrected for flywheel values , not at the original numbers from the wheels. Looks like the dyno they used could possibly have had too high of a correction value.

Like I said, these are whp numbers corrected to estimate flywheel values. So, I'm guessing the correction % was too high.

Oh, they should have just stuck with wheel horsepower.

I don't think the correction % was too high...I mean with headers and exhaust and chip to gain 16 hp...that's not unreasonable

We're talking about the stock baseline numbers, not the numbers for the mods.

You didn't look at the charts. That 176hp was stock.

I called a UNICHIP dealer today and he got me all the info on it. It is $915.00 and will be for sale May 15th. The unit is plug and play with no wiring required so you can install at home and any UNICHIP dealer can add programs to it later because they said programs will be released for the TRD Supercharger which will show some decent gains. The unit plugs in and you scroll through it and pick what parts you have installed so that it can adjust the maps accordingly and any authorized UNICHIP dealer should have a computer to add maps in and do adjustments as needed.

isn't 1000 dollars a little steep? aren't chips usually in the 3-400 range? or is that just for hondas? i don't know that 16 flywheel horsepower is worth a thousand dollars, on this engine anyways.

16 flywheel horsepower isn't alot on the 2AZ, you're right. But on the 1NZ, it's worth it's weight in gold. :D j/k

i have to say, don't waste your money on the unicchip. they did a group buy on the unichip on matrixowners a while ago and after posting dynos numbers people were excited. no one (that i remember) could duplicate their dyno numbers and would come in under. people thought it was a worthless mod.

It may not be that great on NA but with the TRD S/C it will add a bunch because on the Corolla-S with the TRD S/C it added a lot of power.

vvt-i can NOT be adjusted. it doesn't work like vtec.

as for what it does, it works like a greddy e-manage. it is basically a piggy back system that is supposed to help, but i haven't see many good reviews on it.

this is what unichip has posted on their site about it
What Is The Unichip?

^^^ With the VVT-i, couldn't you adjust when the valves start to overlap?
