Default Clutch issue!

driving home tonight...shifted to 3rd...and my clutch just complety stoped working...i had to use my feet while driving to lift it back up...even when i pushed down on it to change gears it wouldnt change it...freaking out...i drive it for another mile...slipping it into gear...after a while...my Ebreak indicator turns on...and my ebrake was completly down...my friends are telling its something to do with the master cylinder? or something? i just want to ask all of you before i go waste tons of money on my car if i dont need to...it has about 49,000 miles on it...thanks for your help!!!

if its your clutch pedal goes down and doesnt come back it most likely the master cylinder. let me ask you this do you have an aftermarket clutch?

^ this. Also, check for a leak in the clutch line or slave cylinder. I had a aftermarket clutch line start leaking and it caused the same symptoms.

ive never replaces the clutch....i just took it to pep boys and they said my master cylinder was leaking and that i needed a new clutch...and that it would cost me about 2000$....why do i feel ripped off ? :/

wowzers!!!!!!!2000 bucks the job better get you some food a girl and some movie tickets for that price.

I had to replace mine twice due to that i had an aftermarket clutch and it was causing the extra pressure to keep busting the master cylinder.

i bought my master cylinder on rockauto.com...... the most expensive one is like $45 bucks

and a family friend/mechanic charged me $80 took him about an hour

yeah i pretty much took it to a family micanic..and ill see how much he can do it for...i think pep boys is totally ripping me off..thanks for all your help though!!
