Duplicolor VHT Paint on Headers?
Has anyone had any experience with Duplicolor VHT Very High Temp paint? I believe it says its good to 1500 degrees and has ceramic in it. Would I be able to paint a header with this or would it bubble?
I'm thinking of trying that header exhaust combo on eBay for $200. I've got an itch to try it out because its cheap and wouldn't be to much a waste of money if I decide to go turbo down the road.

Wont work. I purchased Duplicolor Hi Heat Header paint. I sprayed my DC-Sport Header on my tC that was rusting. I did all the prep work, followed the directions,
let it dry for a long time. as soon as i put the header an started the car. it started smoking and peeling off.
So I sent the header to Jet-Hot

Try Eastwood. They have a lot of brush-on header coatings. Umm, it ain't cheap though, $70 / 8 oz.
For the turbo:
Turbo X black
They have a few other ones a bit cheaper, for a matte silver finish, $26.

The paint wouldn't have peeled off unless you didn't remove the rust from it before you decided to put a coating of paint. Also, paint won't prevent the rust cause exhaust systems (which includes header/exhaust manifolds) rust from the inside out.

I have painted mine as well and have had not a single issue at all. Here is the Strup one painted with header paint. Been on there for about 2 months now. Still looks brand new. I will have a new pic up this weekend with a different header and paint version as well.
NoLimitzInd what type of paint did you use? I thought from pics I had seen before you just had the ceramic strup header. That looks really nice, specially since I thought it was a unmodified strup piece.

oh i did it right. i sand blasted all the minor surface rust off. primered and painted. i do body work and im good with paint. ill try and find pics. maybe it was a bad can of paint i used. I have the kaminari vented carbon hood and the header would get wet.

Ok, you ready for this.. LOL.. I used no primer no nothing. I just cleaned it real well with alcohol and then painted it with hi heat paint. When I get home tonight I will see what paint it was exactly. I just did many coats on it. Here is what it looked like when I started it.

I followed the instructions to the T though. It says to start it let it run for a couple minutes, then shut it off, let it cool, then restart it and let it run for like 10 minutes or something like that. Then it has stayed like that ever sence.

Here is mine now. I told you guys I would post pics of it this weekend. First are the pics of the way it was with the Strup and then new with the Weapon R one.
