is the midpipe (the one after the S pipe) a resonator or a cat? I'm hearing two different opinions and I really don't think it's a cat cause there aren't any o2 sensors connected near it...

Please correct me if I'm wrong...

yup i replaced mine with a peice of pipe and its pretty loud now but its very nice sounding.

 

dont those have an O2 sensor on them?
If you remove and just replace with a pipe, wont that throw a check engine light?

no there is nothing on it...other than a visual thing...like its there i would love to be able to purchase a delete pipe for that...wonder what it would sound like with no muffler or anything...

 

Anyone know where i can get one...just put my new HKS exhaust in and love it. A new mid pipe would b great too!

 

no one makes on specifically for that purpose yet...i hope they do one day...or you can just hack up your stock item :D but im holding off on that just in case i have to put it back in one day :D

 

i just got an hks too. It's way too quiet for my taste..

have anyone found a bolt on replacement piece for it yet?
will it be hard to take out all of the stuff inside it?

 

Just go to a muffler shop and have them weld on some flanges to some 2.5" pipe and make sure it fits...

 

Do you get a check engine light when u got rid of the cat? I'm doing this on saturday and I'm curious.

 

Well I'm goin tomorrow for my install.

Ill hopefully get a vid up of how the new midpipe sounds when paired with a borla dual out and a cold air

 

since there is not O2 sensor on the midpipe, removing that won't trigger any CEL.

However, when u remove the one by the header, that'll trigger it

bad news though the guy at the shop wont touch it. woww he said get a high flow cat.

i guess they are really strict about removing a cat huh? Even a muffler shop at the ghettoest area won't do it!

 

I wonder if they will fabricate you a new pipe... Then YOU remove the cat and install the semi-straight pipe...
