Default My sister called me with a problem with her '08 xB

She recently took it in to get a tuneup, oil change, and brake pads replaced. I told her fiance that $900 for all that was too much.

Anyway, they're on their way from the Bay Area to British Columbia right now and their car won't shift past 4K RPM. She said they're going along at around 60MPH @ 4K RPM and it won't shift to the next gear...

I asked if she could put it into manual mode and shift it that way, and she said that it still won't shift up. I don't know what to tell her. Has anyone else had this problem?

Find out if they had the tranny flushed with that service. If so it is quitepossible that internal parts of the tranny were damaed if it ws a pressure flush. You don't pressure flush these trannys but many shops still do it.

Like Greg says, sounds like something is up with the auto transmission.
