Default Rough idle and Reverse when braking

Hello I'm new here and figured this would be a great place to start working on figuring out the problem to my Scion. I just bought this car used with 104k miles on it everything was fine until about 2 weeks ago when I noticed while driving that when I would break the idle was so rough at a light or
stop sign, later on when trying to park or get out of a driveway putting the car in Reverse it would shake and rattle beyond what I think anyone considers "normal". Putting the car in neutral seems to help relieve this problem when at a complete stop but I know that's not a real solution to this problem.

If anyone has any insight or experience with this I would greatly appreciate it.

Any chance you have a CEL or have had the car scanned to check for any codes...most auto parts stores will do it for free.

Have you checked the engine mounts? If they have never been changed it is likely that they are worn out at 100K + miles.

Easy way to check them is open the hood and have a friend watch the engine. Start the car, put your foot on the brake, put the car in drive, while holding the brake, and rev up the engine. If the engine tilts more than an inch or so then you most likely have worn out motor mounts.
