Default Water pump leaking

Hi,

I took my car to my Toyota dealership and they pointed out that my water pump is leaking as it was making a strange noise and opening the hood revealed a white streak on its underside.

Is it expensive to fix? Will it result in my coolant levels decreasing, and if so, should I be replenishing my coolant until I can get the pump replaced?

Thx.

OK, so that's a drag ! Take a read through this thread, may well help.

Depending on your warranty status, replacement might be free! Cost of a new pump isn't too bad, but the installation billing is a bit tough !

Installation cost I'm not too worried about since my best friend's father runs a body shop and can probably get me his price on a replacement pump.

If you have someone who can give you discounts on parts and labor, then that may be the best bet. Still, read the thread I linked and make note of the current part number and others observations -- may be helpful .

If I can't get it repaired right away, I wanted to ask, should I keep replenishing the coolant?

Are you asking if it's OK for the coolant level to go below the low mark -- I'm thinking you already know the answer to that. Still, it's your car !
