Default Why spend so much money?

so I was shopping for exhaust systems for the last couple weeks and noticed that most systems were all axle backs for the 11 XB which didnt have a muffler ie the borla and greddy system. so why would anyone pay so much money to have their muffler removed? i went to my local exhaust shop and paid $30 to have it removed and reused the factory tip.

I agree, bro. It's kind of ridiculous. However, the build quality is pretty high but I don't feel that it warrants the price. It's a very high price for the Borla setup, and it is just a straight pipe.

The only ones worth buying are the cat-backs, Strup and Tsudo. Unless you go for a custom exhaust or are a name brand diva.

I had a custom axle back fabbed up after running the ebay axle back for a bit.

Cost less than a trd, and sounds great (IMO). I took a vibrant muffler, put a turn down on it, painted it black, and volia!

Unless you are boosted, any exhaust mod is a waste of money. You gain minimal power and your car sounds like an angry swarm of killer bees. Now if the 2az-fe was a 5 cylinder it would be different, they sound good with an exhaust lol.

^what he said. My car still sounds very close to stock, I just free'd up some breathing room for the inevitable turbo upgrade.

It depends on what you're trying to achieve. Some want a look, some want a particular sound, some want a starting block for future plans (as stated above), and yet some are looking for just a little more hp (minimal as it is). By the way not all exhausts will make your car sound like a bumble bee. imo 2.5" on a n/a 4 banger is way too loud and annoying at highway speeds. At least it is on my Civic with a tsudo exhaust. Around town it sounded good to me, though everybody else would complain. It gave me enough get up and go compared to stock, but of course that's not all I have, but every little bit helps. Anyways I'm a cheap bastard and wouldn't even think of spending more than $350 on a catback system. Just my 2 cents.

About the sound, if you replace the scuba, then it will definitely sound like angry bees. Replacing the rear muffler can get a nice clean rumble though.
