Default Custom Metal Work

Have a concept I am currently working on for my 11 xB. Split the rear hatch in half. Leave the rear window so it still raises as normal. Split the lower half in half so they open like suicides. Mount the license plate on left and spare tire in custom holder on right allowing my 4 12in subs to take the trunk. Thoughts?

Sounds like a lot of work for something so minimal. You have to ask yourself, "is the juice worth the squeeze?" In my eyes: not at all.

Good luck with mounting your hinges for the doors, figuring out latches, and the work in general. There will be a fair amount of engineering involved.

I just wish my rear hatch window rolled down.

Thanks for the link. It doesn't look too bad. But i sure wouldn't want to mount my license plate to a plastic number though.

it seems simple enough, well as simple as building the doors can be, if i lived near each other i would say that would love to help you try this.

btw, how difficult was the suicide door conversion?

Well I found a set of the donor dutch doors at a local salvage yard. So my shop will be working the doors that way. The suicides were a beast. I'll post some cleaner pics of that one. It was about 6 months worth of metal work. But the end result was totally worth it.
