Default Front motor mount or ETD?

Which is better? Replacing the front motor mount with a GGP poly mount or adding a Ingalls or WR engine torque damper? Pros and cons? TIA

I've been wondering this myself but I didn't feel like posting.

Search maybe?

i liked my ETD just for the traction, even with an Auto. _____ slick road paint lines, it seemed to help for take off.

Never had mounts before.

i have had both with the motor mount from ggp geoff at nurspec you will get alot of vibration at idle when the ac iis on dosent bother me with the etd you will get very bad harmonics through the dash and you will break it mine took one launch on slicks and broke 2 bolts and went missing on the track somewhere do the motor mount it works great and at about 100 bucks its amazing value

Thanks Guys. I'm leaning towards filling the oem MMs with 3M windoweld because it shouldn't transfer as much vibration as a damper or the GGP poly MM. Also it's cheap, fairly easy and if it doesn't work out, I can always add a MM or damper later.

Yeah, it's way too cold to do this outside. Luckily I have access to a heated garage. TBH I haven't really taken a good look at the MMs yet. I'm assuming I can do this without removing them but if removal is required, I may just get the GGP front MM instead.

IIRC you said you broke a damper? Is that correct? If so, I'll definitely pass on that option.

Hmmmm... decisions, decisions... While I like the idea of filling the oem MMs with WW urethane, removing all of the MMs, cleaning and prepping them, filling them, curing for 24 hours and reinstalling them is a lot of work.

OTOH, installing the GGP front MM is easy but likely transmits more vibration and does nothing for the other MMs...

Still considering my options. Thanks to all for your input.

That wouldn't be too bad at all. I guess the logical choice would be to fill the front MM and if it isn't enough or doesn't hold up, replace it with the GGP MM. Thanks.

Edit: I decided to go with the GGP MM instead of windoweld.

CON to the torque dampers is that they make a lot of noise.

Motor mounts will definitely transfer vibration into the cabin.

If I had to mod this (I won't because my xB is my daily), I would definitely go with motor mount than the engine torque damper. I've seen a lot of ETD failed on cars (EVO and s14) than upgraded motor mounts (bushing inserts) going bad.

My WR Damper is load mostly in reverse. If once you get one the gas most if not all the vibration goes away. At idle it does rattle a little but not really horribly bad. I went with the damper because it can go in and out of the car in less then 10 min. If its not something you want to live with on a daily bases go damper for sure.

same thing with the tc pretty much...mounts end up being the best but yeah more vibrations with ac on.

Would you rather transfer all the vibration straight to the firewall or to a more solid part of the chassis farther from the firewall? That is one big difference.

ETD is basically a big bandaid that is more likely to break most times. Motor mounts are a better fix. Either way, you are going to suffer with more vibration throughout the car, since the softer stock mounts are designed to dampen this.

And with either the vibration will feel worse at idle.
