For me it's all about daily driveability without the little quirks and hiccups you get with other piggyhacks. You're gonna need launch control, 2-step and boost control for your goals. I'm aiming for oem-smooth power delivery and 13's.

We'll see if the X1 delivers.

I finally figured out how to tame the CXR exhaust... replace it! LOL

Seriously though, the only CXR piece left on my car now is the s-pipe. My first attempt to quiet this beast down was fiberglass packing on the silencer. It worked fairly well but only for a few days until the packing blew out. I could have used better packing but it would still blow out eventually and cause unwanted restriction until it did.

The next attempt was to install a large 7" x 18" resonator where the scuba used to be. This helped a lot, especially below 2000rpm but it was still loud enough to draw unwanted attention and way too loud with the silencer removed.

Today I had the CXR mid-pipe replaced with a 2.5" pipe that mates to my 2.5" TRD axle-back. The TRD muffler made a huge improvement over the CXR muffler. It probably flows better too since the only way to make the CXR tolerable was to leave the restrictive silencer installed. Now the exhaust is all straight-thru pipe, 2.5" DP, 3" S-pipe, 3" resonator, 2.5" mid-pipe and 2.5" AB. Greg at Mandrel Bending Solutions did the work and made a nice 3" to 2.5" transition piece.

Anyway, it's raining so a sound clip will have to wait. Until then here is a clip of the CXR exhaust with the 7" resonator and silencer:

Some final thoughts on the CXR exhaust. The overall quality is good, the fitment is only fair but can be modded to fit better. "Better" as in it only hits the axle on medium bumps and only scrapes on speed bumps.

The biggest problem is how loud it is but after replacing the CXR muffler with TRD, the difference is night and day. IMO the solution to taming the CXR exhaust isn't adding a bigger resonator up front, the solution is replacing the CXR muffler with a quality muffler. The large canister CXR muffler looks like it should do the job but it falls well short. It's probably packed with hair from the floor of a chinese barber shop...
