Default Turbo

Any one have any luck making their own turbo kit? For example getting a turbo off of another car and making everything custom?

you'd most likely need a shop to help you. There's going to be a decent amount of fabricating the I/c piping, mounting brackets etc. If you know someone who can do all that I guess you could. Labor is just so expensive if you want good work.

Yea i think i would jusr buy a kit without turbo and manifold. Just the ic pipes and ic itself. Cus my friend is giving me a c20 turbo that came off of a 2JZ twin tuebo supra. So i thinkni would jusr need a manifold to go with it and runn new oil lines

I can tell where this thread is going. Just do it right the first time, so you dont waste your money doing stupid stuff. Buy stuff made for the car.

Sort of. When I started my boost project the only good kit available was from Descendant but they wanted $6250 for it. I bought a CX Racing kit for $1200 instead and after 2 years, $5000 spent and hundreds of hours I have a very nice custom turbo setup.

Today you can simply order a very nice kit from Descendant, FastScions, Treadstone or Ancla and save yourself a lot of time and headaches. Unless you're a skilled fabricator and welder with all the neccessary tools, don't even consider going the custom route.
