About 25 1206 LEDs and they are a pain to change out but you can do some cool effects by leaving a few and letting the colors blend between them.

0603. like i said. no typical shop will do it, btw.
you're better off installing in an aftermarket headunit.

hmm.. curious.. what color did you want?

Actually you might be right on the 32. It's been a while and I didn't change all of them. I managed to fit PLCC-2s when I did mine, even bigger, but it was what I had sitting around whn I did it.

how would you even fit something that big.. onto pads made for something so small? we're talking about the stock stereo.. head unit... right?
1206 sized leds would be pushing it.. but i can't imagine fitting plcc ones on there without some difficulty.

hmm.. i believe since 2008.. the design of the headunit hasn't changed.
@flyingemu05.. what's the model number say on the bottom left? i found my extra faceplate.. and it says T1808

With a ton of effort. I basically made little angled posts out of solder on the board and soldered the PLCCs to them, then I had to open up some space in the rubber membrane for the buttons so that they would fit through it.

That's really really not practical.... you are doing like 100x more work then just working with just 0603
I can get it done in about 30 min or less with 0603

Oh I know, I just did it because I had a bunch of the PLCCs laying around and felt like it. I already knew I was going to change out the headunit for an aftermarket one when I did it.
