2010 XB came with a 2009 stereo?
I have a new 2010 XB, for the past month I've been trying different IPOD's to see if any would work on my base head unit. I've been trying to connect through the USB port, and of 3 Different IPOD versions, (Nano, Touch gen 3, Mini), none of them work, the IPOD/Aux button does nothing. So I got this dongle that connects to the Ipod, and has a standard headset plug for output to an AUX port, and that doesn't work either. So after doing some looking up, I noticed that the 2010 base Pioneer stereo looks much different than mine, and I find that my stereo is the 2009 model! Guess I'll need to get that replaced by the dealer. My real question is, so I don't look like an idiot when I call the dealer: Is the 2010 base model pioneer stereo supposed to come with an IPOD cable/jack that is next to the USB/aux port on the center console? Thanks for any help you can provide.

early on, before dealer techs really knew the 2010 was different than the 2009, they were putting the older model radios in the cars.
Id take the car back to the dealership, and just explain it to them. they should know by now (almost a year into selling the 2010s) that its the wrong radio. If not, show them pictures of the radios. the pictures should drive the point home.

Yeah, being a bit paranoid that was the first thing I checked, it says 2010 on my registration, title, and even when I look up the vin# on google it takes me to the dealer's website where the car is listed as a 2010. I bought it a month ago. Anyone know about the IPOD interface? Does it go exclusively through the USB port or is there supposed to be a port next to the USB/AUX port for an Ipod dongle?
I don't know for sure, but I'm fairly sure the car is supposed to have what it has now (USB & AUX port). You plug your iPod cable into the USB port, into your iPod. Thats how my Kenwood HU works. You can also plug in USB flash drives (FAT32 formatted), so double the fun. Thats a cool feature not on the -09 HUs.
have you updated your ipod, I know mine wasnt connecting to my head unit with the ipod cable until Itunes told me to update it, then once I updated it, it worked fine.....i thought the 2010 xb came with an Alpine HU?
I haven't updated my Ipod, but I just tried a fat 32 formatted flash drive and that didn't do anything either. I'm going to shoot from the hip here and say that maybe the 2009 model stereo doesn't work with the 2010 model usb connector. Either that or they just didn't connect the usb and aux port. Awaiting a call from the dealer.

I have a 2008 and it has the same radio options as the 2009 -- including the center located jack panel with AUX and IPOD. As already mentioned, the 2010 has a different radio and the jack panel sports AUX and USB. The IPOD connection is achieved via a USB plugin cable, not an IPOD specific jack. Just get the correct radio installed and you should be good to go.

I talked to the dealer Friday, (4 calls later...), going to get the unit replaced on Wednesday. Both my salesman and the service department tried to convince me that the units were the same, then I explained the differences/incompatibility and they acquiesced and agreed to replace it.
Geez, all this time and they still haven't learned. I wonder how many 2010's are running around with the wrong radio? Still, many to most owners may be content with CD and AM/FM, they probably wouldn't even discover the problem.
Posting the resolution to this. Dealer changed out the unit with the proper one, said that it came with the wrong one from the factory... Even though when I test drove it there was nothing there. Oh well, IPod now works so I'm happy, and thats all that really matters. Thanks all.
