Hey guys i was wondering if any of you knows if the upgrade radio Alpine not the nav. P/N PT 545-0012 would just plug and play on the 2011 xB? or if there are any other connections or cables i would need ?

If it's a Scion supplied upgrade, it'll plug right in. You'll get to use the steering wheel controls and the center console USB connection. HOWEVER, if you don't really need the above goodies, I would humbly recommend getting a aftermarket Alpine head unit: you'll get a wider range of options/styles. It's almost plug and play; you'll need to buy an adapter harness that is wired to the new head unit, but plugs right into the car's wire harness. Odds are, the aftermarket unit will do more and still cost less than the Scion supplied unit. Remember, dealer stuff is almost always 50-100% more expensive than aftermarket.

 

well it's the wife car and she want the ipad hook up n the controllers shes happy with the stock but she also want her old amps thats y im looking at this upgrade just for the rca pre outs , my wife i hate her sometimes but can't live with out her lol

 

i think all scion headunits have rca outputs, i dont think you need to upgrade the radio for them.

 

well i took mine off and it only has sub outputs bummer...

 

Yeah, the Scion HU only have RCAs for a sub. Most amps, however, do have speaker level inputs. It still means running wires from the dash to the front seats.

 

FWIW, the Upgraded Alpine HU in the '11 has 3 RCA outs.
