Default Armrest fix progress and ideas

I wanted to start this to help other owners having the same problem as me.
I will be posting pics of the progress as I go.

So we all know the problem the Drivers armrest it too high and narrow to be usable for long drives, and to make matters worse the passangers side is lacking one.
Because the center console is too short and too low.

Here is my soultion with pics coming up tonight

Remove the drivers side armrest, if there is a tab still remove it and cap it.

Remove the center console lid and attach it to a 2003 Honda Coupe Arm rest (the black fabric is a close match to the seat surronding fabric) also happens to be the right dimentions APP 5.75 inches wide and extends while in use to reach the driver and passanger seat

I will try to make this a how to thred since there is a lot of members who can use this.

I am not an expert with fiberglass so I* will also be asking for some tips and pointers too as I go.
Thanks for looking and look for up dates

subscribed.

looking forward to your solution which sounds like a great way to go.

imo the best solution if the honda armrest is hard to source cheaply, is to make a plywood/mdf panel to screw into the console lid, and then buy the closed-cel foam and carve it out to desired size. then upholster the foam. and finally glue the foam to the wood.

Time to kick this thread up again

As some of you have seen on Scionlife my car is cracked up,
Add that along with some other issues and I am starting to hate the Xb again.

So in an effort to keep cash in my pocket (ie not trade in the car)
I have decided to pick up this project again.
Also the 2011 Xb seems to have to armrest issue fixed and that got me thinking as well.

Will have pics up in the next day to show the starting point and go from there

wassup SuZuX808 Maui... I'm in Honolulu.

I'll get some picks later.. but the compartment and lid works like stock. No complaints from front passengers now.. LOL.. I'm currently working on a rear seats middle armrest/compartment too.
