the cavity behind the head unit is the size of the Grand Canyon. It goes all the way to the floor. You could easily fit a bluetooth module, ipod module, etc. inside this part of the dash. I mounted my satellite radio tuner in there.

yeah just mount the bluetooth piece behind the center console/shifter area, there's so much room there below the radio cavity, zip tie it well so it doesn't rattle or knock against anything, i typically install the bluetooth mic on the a-pillar

yes, but you can pull the weatherstripping back and run it along the inside edge of it, then pull back the top just a tad with a screwdriver or your fingertips to push the wiredown behind the top of the panel

I had to run the antenna cable for my remote starter down the A-pillar. It's easy to run wires down it. The pillar can pop loose enough to run wires down it without even removing it all the way. Just be sure to run ALL your wires behind the airbag so that if it ever deploys the wires dont get in the way. When you pop the pillar cover off you will see what I mean.

ok so the pillar just pops loose like normal ones? ... i am guessing i should run the wires on the side of the pillar that is near the front windshield so it won't be in the way of the airbag ...

my radio should be here tomorrow .. so this weekend i will be installing it all ... and i think the mic ... and the speed sens wire are going to be the two most time consuming parts of it.

you don't have to pop it loose... i usually pull the weather stripping and then you can run tuck the wire behind the dash... you'll be able to run it behind the a-pillar without pulling it off... then you can "floss" *i guess that's the best way to describe it* it behind the panel up top where it meets the headliner... it'll be easy no worries

the pillar comes off easy enough, pop it from the bottom then reach in on the top and rotate the black panel tie 90 degrees (you may need needle nose pliers for this if you've got fat hands, mind the airbag) and off it comes. there's a set of wires in front of the airbag that you can tie to (dome and map power) to make it a cleaner install

I've got the bluetooth adapter for my AVIC-Z2 and I mounted the microphone above the map lights and drilled tiny holes in the strips/lines just behind the lights. works like a charm, people can hear me loud and clear.

i may eventually move mine to there, to keep it out of sight .. right now it stands out a bit when you are in the car ... but everyone can hear me just fine ...

there is a small section on the trim peice around the map lights that looks like it is made to have a mic behind it ... so will prob put mine there ...

I thought about buying that center overhead console piece and mount the mic in that.
