Default Blank button next to shifter

Just curious - what is the intended purpose of the button to the right of the shifter? Do any current accessories utilize it?

Check the install instructions for the Scion Security System on Sparks. The little blinking light for the security system is supposed to go there.

if you only see a black square, then you do not have Scion Security. that is where the glass-break sensor and the led go for the alarm.

Thanks - I guess it's time to get the security system before thieves realize what I'm missing.

Sadly i dont think you can get the Scion Security if it wasnt installed at the factory. wait, ignore that. you should go talk to your dealer and see if you can have it put in. its best to have the scion security because if anything should happen to your xB (i.e. theft, break in) Toyota covers your deductable.

scion security system sucks *****... there are much better alarms systems out there that do more, are cheaper, come with a siren, and will cover the cost of your deductable. i was very disapointed when i got my RS3.0, the scion security was installed as a package option, and i was really disapointed to learn that there is no siren with this system. not there a siren was not installed, but that system is not designed to have a siren, so i couldn't even wire one in myself.. my viper791 does 10x more and they will cover the cost of your deductable should any thing happen to your vehicle. most reputable alarm companies will cover it.. although, i don't know if the gen2 xb scion security system comes with a siren... i would imagine that it's the same system...

The gen 2 xB does not have a siren per say, but it does have a confirmation "chirp" (in the style of lexus and toyota) to let you know if its engaged or disengaged and if one of the doors or the hatch is open. when it is engaged and the alarm is set off, the horn beeps (i think thats the same as the gen 1's). I dunno, i am a stickler for having factory stuff in my car as opposed to aftermarket. i guess its more a a personal preference which alarm you want in your car.

Hmm... I got scion security... supposedly.

Isn't scion security just a rebranded or just an upgrade to KARR?

I have a flashing blue led but its under my steering wheel..

Sounds like you may have another toyota add on security system that is available. The LED for the 08 factory option does go next to the shifter. I haven't ordered mine yet, but it does seem like it is easily available to purchase and install AFTER your purchase and not only at the dealer at the time of purchase.
