Which bluetooth system works the best?
I know this is an old topic, but I did a search and all the info was a year old and not very conclusive.
I have the SNS head unit, and a friend has the standard head unit (not premium). California law just changed so that only hands-free is legal. We're both wondering what aftermarket bluetooth unit others are using and happy with. We're looking for ease of installation, and obviously great functionality. We're both looking for a hands-free car system, so please don't say "get a headset".
Thanks for helping.

I'm using a headset for now. It works great and I don't talk on the phone all that much.
I too am looking for a more built-in method. I also have the SNS and have been considering getting a new head unit with bluetooth. Not only would the stereo sound better, but you'd gain features. The only drawback is the investment. And I don't care for the look of the dash kit for standard double DIN radios for our cars.
Soooo... I think I might go for a parrot bluetooth system. http://www.crutchfield.com/cgi-bin/p...etooth&x=0&y=0
I think I like the CK3100 for its compactness and display. The CK3200 looks pretty awesome though. I honestly couldn't tell you how well they work but I believe they are one of the leaders in this field. These systems will integrate with the factory radio. Another thing is where would you put the display? I've seen one installed behind the steering wheel where the gauge cluster would be (if we didn't drive xBs) but I think it looks a bit tacky. I want to mount one in the headliner. I think that would look best but would require some custom work. It's something I plan to do soonish and I will post up pics if I go through with it.

Here is some info I posted in another thread when I first installed my Parrot 3200.

For an update, I have had it for about a year now. I really like it and it just improved with some recent changes.
About a month ago, work changed my cell phone from a Motorla E815 to a BlackBerry 8703e and I updated the firmware in the 3200 while setting up the new phone to work with the Parrot.
I don't know if it is the phone change or the firmware update, but my wife says she cannot tell when I am in the car now and she could easily tell before if I was on BT with the Moto / Parrot combo.
Hope that helps.

As to the location, from the link I put in my other reply to this thread:

Mine works well on the left. Very low profile.
I have been installing car audio equipment for 13+ years. I would recommend changing the stereo out with the Pioneer FH-P8000BT. Its a double din radio that looks good in the xB2. The bluetooth works great. All built into the radio but the mic. The parts you would need would be the double din kit, wire harness and steering wheel interface part if you wanted to keep those controls. You could also look at the Pioneer DEH-P7000BT which is a very nice single din with bluetooth built in.

I have put a lot of add-on handsfree systems into cars and it would not be my first choice. I seen issues with every company handsfree kits, even parrots. However I will says that the parrots are one of the better ones I've seen. If you are going to install a parrot system, get a factory stereo harness and reverse harness for your xB. A little bit more money buy makes life a lot easier for the install and if you even sell the xB and want to remove the handsfree kit.
If you have any other questioins let me know.
