Bought a used 2012 Scion xB base, love it. Have some questions to ask.
1. What’s this in front of the gauge cluster?
2. Does the key have chips? Since it came one key with engraved letter “G”, does it mean I need to buy keys with G chip?
3. Does it original come with luggage cover?
4. Does the center storage console have lid /tray (something separate the space)? Mine has no loose parts in the center.
Thanks.

My 2015 xB didn't have security chip in the key. I think the letter refers to what frequency band the remote radio is. Crack open the key and check, mine had an empty socket where the RFID chip would go.
If you are looking to get another key, you can buy a USB cable for $30, I have an XHorse cable and then install Techstream on a windows a machine and add/remove keys. Also change a couple convenience settings,
like all doors unlock with one click, seat belt warning, turn off daylight running lights if you have them. Also do more advanced troubleshooting.
Cargo cover, not stock. You had buy it as an option. Little pricey at about $200. Also some holes need to be drilled and some support rails get installed. I had it installed as part of the deal when I bought mine.
My Center Console had a little tray in it. Guess it was a space for cables when you used the USB port. I never used the USB port, just Bluetooth and the cigarette lighter for charging.
I have since moved on to a RAV4. A nicer vehicle but I think I like the way the xB was geared better. I also like the 4 speed auto in the xB better than the 6 speed in the RAV4. Yeah the xB shifts like molasses
but I feel the four gears worked very well except for second gear going around corners.
Also like the engine breaking of the xB better too. I need to use the brakes more in the RAV4.
Enjoy your Box.

That little blob is the Bluetooth microphone. There was an OEM Bluetooth add on kit available from Toyota, and it came with this mic. There should be a black rectangular Toyota style switch/button mounted
somewhere with three portions, upper, middle, lower. You press and hold the middle portion until you hear a beep to pair a device, if I recall. The upper and lower portions of the switch are volume up and down.
I mounted the switch in the blank area to the right of the shifter. Some folks mount it on the left lower dash near the stability control button.
The BT should show up on your device as something like BLU logic.
The part number to this was/is PT923-00111.
