Default deadly power outlet

Its already killed two of my power adapters. They'll light up when plugged in but won't pass a charge. My phone won't even show it's connected. Already checked the cables and other adapters, it's not them. Is anyone else having difficulties with this?

Are your power adaptors old-school, lighter-socket style or the insert that has one or two USB ports in it? some of the aftermarket adapters that provide USB ports do not have the capacity to power chargers. I found out the hard way....

I would say it is the cheap Chinese USB chargers. They do not have any surge-protection, are over rated like 2.1A they run red hot, they use cheap capacitors, crappy soldering etc. etc.

The Scion 12V power outlet can't output more than about 25W. It has super skinny wire 20GA and I think a tiny 1-2A fuse (not 10-15A like old Corollas and Chevys). You can't put anything big on it.
The outlet switches on/off with ignition and stresses out whatever is connected to it.
