Default Dropped my Wedding Band Behind the Steering Wheel! Help!!!

I dropped my wedding band behind the steering column. Even tilting the column all the way down, I can't get my fingers in there. I can't see the ring. I am going to have to remove panels. Can anyone point me in the right direction? There must be a video or discussion thread on how to remove the upper and lower panels around the steering column. Thank you in advance!

There are 2 little screws that you need to take off to remove it. Simply turn the wheel to get to each one.

Perhaps the tC has screws, but the xB2 doesn't -- I suggest not pointing people to specific solutions for other vehicles unless you know for sure.

To remove the clam-shell from around the xB2 steering shaft, you need to release a number of snaps that hold them together (top to bottom) plus two clips immediately behind the steering wheel accessed by a small hole on each side of the lower shell. Rotate the wheel 1/2 turn in either direction and push a paper clip or such through the holes to push back the clips. Personally, I find it a bit tricky, but I've successfully done it several times now. My best guess is your ring has landed within the lower clam-shell. Best wishes !

My fault. Didn't notice it was for the xb2. Ignore what I said.

Not a huge problem people, just let's be aware ! All vehicles aren't the same, even from the same manufacturer. Here's hoping the OP can locate the missing ring without too much trauma ! If I can be of any further assistance, please be assured I'll try !

You can probably find it just as easily by removing the lower panel, a few snaps and a couple of 10mm bolts and its out. I highly doubt that your ring is actually inside the steering column so taking it apart would be a waste of time and getting it out without damaging it is risky and getting it back together without knowing what your doing could prove troublesome.

Just in case anyone searches for this like I did...

I found it pretty easy after I read this. I started by pushing in on the sides of lower piece of the clamshell just below the line where the two pieces join. That released the clips, them I pulled the upper piece off. Sorry. didn't have time to take pics.

Unfortunately, there's no indication the OP has recovered the ring! Surely, that's what matters in this thread ! Any progress OP?

Maybe he left it there and decided to stay single.

Win win.
