Anybody ever install Dynamat under their carpet and if you did is there anything I need to know that would help out with the install?

 

I used Sound Deadener Showdown's CLD, CCF and MLV.

Removing the interior was pretty straight forward. I ordered some plastic body panel removal tools from amazon. I borrowed a cordless impact wrench and that made getting the seat bolts in and out very easy.

I found that the MLV made it a bit difficult to get the carpet back down right because of the extra thickness.

- Get some knee pads and a seat cushion so you don't bruise yourself.
- Get some work gloves, the aluminum on the dynamat can cut you.
- Make sure you have enough blades for your knife the aluminum wears them down fast.
- Test fit mark then cut before removing the backing
- Use a small piece of plywood that you can bring in the car as a cutting board so you don't have to keep getting in and out.

It took me a 3 day weekend to do the floor, roof and behind the dash.

Adding every all of the deadening material allows me to run my radio about 25% lower than before and has made my commute much more pleasant.

 

Same here, I didn't use the CLD tiles for the floor but I did the whole floor in CCF and MLV. As jthistle said it does take more effort to get the carpet back in.

Just an FYI for you guys that are dynamatting, if your goal is to reduce road noise then the first place you should be matting is your roof. People dont think about it and they think floor first but there is more road noise heard by people in the car coming from the roofs over the floor. Thats from the guys at Dynamat themselves by the way. If you think about it it makes sense too, your head is far closer to the roof then the floor, carpet does deadening the noise a bit where as headliner has ZERO deadening properties at all, and in most cases, although not ours really, generally there is SOME kind of factory sound deadening on the floor and almost never any on the roof.

 

Yep, the roof was the biggest change I made in overall noise reduction. As a nice extra benefit it doesn't sound like a tin can in the rain any more.
