Default Eclipse avn6620 questions

Does anyone have the Eclipse avn6620?
I have been reading that it should be plug and play for Toyotas, is this true?
Would it keep my AUX port because I don't have an Ipod, I have a Creative Zen.

I don't have an AVN-6620 but I have an AVN-5500, I think the overall wiring is the same. It is true that most Eclipse units are plug and play for Toyotas. I was amazed how easy it was when I was installing mine. I don't think it come with AUX port, I think you need to purchase a adaptor for that. But you can mod the connection yourself since the AVNs come with AUX RCA input, may be you can just use a RCA adaptor for your Zen.

Default dvd

See the dvd post. I installed a 6620.. Plug and play, including steering wheel controls.
No fuss, no muss and sounds far better than the OEM.

Default nav

Its under 'Whats the best Nav/DVD etc.....
Here is the text

will chime in here as I have had a few different nav's including some OEMS. The pioneer
Kenwood are great navs. There are pros's and cons on all of them. I personally like the eclipse units as they are built by Fujitsu who does most of the Toyota radios.

This will sell you if nothing else does. The Eclipse is plug and play with the 08 XB. No fooling with anything. All of the OEM plugs fit into this unit and it works!!!! THe only thing that you will loose is the Ipod link but there is an adaptor for that and adaptors for anything else that you can think of. Also, the steering wheelcontrols work perfectly. No fooling around..

As far as hard drive vs DVD on the nav the slightly slower response is nothing in my opinion. It cost less than half of the OEM and does way more. The only bug is filling the end gaps, as the opening for this unit is wider than double din. They make fillers for it that I have ordered on e bay.

Hate to resurrect this thread but does Eclipse AVN6620 play MP3s on a DVD. Crutchfield just says CD...

Also, why is the screen motorized if it takes up a double din dash?

Thanks.

Yes it plays MP3 cds. The screen is motorized so it can flip down to reveal the two dvd slots.

Default 6620

Just an FYI. The steering wheel contols plug also fits the 6620 but it causes the XB to throw a VSS code. I did find the problem so a PAC box is not needed. Just snip the purple wire on the 20 pin connector.

But what about DVDs? I know there may not be a difference but some nav units state they do MP3s on DVD while others just say on CD even though they have a DVD player.

I didn't read close enough to see you said dvd mp3's. I am not sure on that one I will know more when I order mine next month.

Did you ground the purple wire when you cut it?

What about a dash kit which one works with it?

Just snipped it so that the computer didnt get a bad signal. About 1.5" from the connector.

You dont need a dash kit. Its a bolt in with the OEM brackets. You just need the Toyota filler peices on the L&R. I will look up the number later.
