Factory Radio Compatibility - 2012+ in a 2009? Also, The Center Console!
Looking at possible purchasing a Scion T10018 factory radio for an FR-S off eBay, but I don't know if it would be an easy drop-in replacement for my T1808. Don't want to splice wires and create a "compatibility adapter" to go between the two, nor do I want to spend $200+ on an aftermarket radio, plus an install kit and an add-on for steering wheel control retention. I am considering the T1818 as an alternate. There is one other model that had Bluetooth, but it turns out it is the only one I hate the look of, so no-go on that one!
My primary goals are achieving Bluetooth Hands-Free and the ability to play music off my USB thumb drive. The 2012+ center console is much larger, sits higher, and has a USB port already, but even with that and the right radio, I am concerned I might be up to my eyeballs in wiring. Your thoughts?

It's going to get expensive pretty fast to swap the FRS radio in. You'll need an adapter harness for both the wiring and the antenna connections. You'll also need all the wiring for the USB plug and harness since the stock 09 stuff is different. Honestly 200+ for an aftermarket radio is not much and you'll get a better functioning unit out of it.
Thanks for the info, Greg S!
yes, $200 isn't much, but by the time you buy the install kit and adapter for retaining the factory steering wheel controls, you are looking at around $350.
What about the T1818? Would that be a Plug N' Play replacement? I just found out there is a T1815 as well. The T1809 is a small step up, but I'm not sure it is worth it.
My current setup goers from the T1808 to the 3.5mm aux/proprietary iPod port that requires a special cable, and it's just for iPod (pre-Lightning). Has anyone created an adaptor that lets you replace that iPod jack with a USB port? Is there an affordable factory Scion/Toyota/Lexus setup I can purchase that consists of the radio and the cable that runs to the center console, plus the USB port? Say I purchased the stock radio for a 2012 xB, plus the accompanying USB port...is that an option?
Finally, for simplicity, I hear there is a factory-compatible BluLogic module. Would this only provide Bluetooth, or USB as well?
