Question Hella horn install on 2008+ xB...?

So I infamously installed 2 sets of Hella twin super tone horns on my old 06 xB and had the time of my life with them. it's all detailed here w/instructions:

https://www.scionlife.com/forums/scion-xb-1st-gen-owners-lounge-1602/diy-hella-horn-installation-2nd-set-installed-w-pics-71017/

im picking up another Scion soon and plan on doing the same. im wondering has anyone installed a pair (or two ) on an 08 or newer xB? if so, where did you mount them?

i ask bc the upper grill (right below the hood) looks like it might be too small, and the lower grill area (in between the fog lights) looks like might be too low to mount the horns (debris/water will ruin the horns...)

so im just wondering what others have done.... thanks in advance, gang!

Nope. My horn operates quite sufficiently.

Check out BrickPig's install on his 2011. Looks to be pretty much a piece of cake.

thanks so much for the info! i actually want to mount them on my new xb like i had them mounted on my old xb - unobstructed!

i drove around with my grill off lot because when i had the grill on and honked, the sound resonated in the engine compartment and was actually pretty loud in the cabin. so I was wondering if anyone has mounted them in an unobstructed way in the current model xb - like maybe in the lower grill where the fog lights go...

If I got some of the horns I've seen on eBay do I just have to hook up the one wire for them?? Some of they show a optional wire harness that you might need.

Its better to run a relay and give them full 12V power when they go off but it is not necessary as I've seen others just hook up with the stock harness. I run mine with the relay and its loud!

nasty, gs is absolutely right. you only need that harness if you can't / don't want to wire the horns like in the diagram i have on page 1 of my horn thread (in my sig).

gs is also right that having a separate relay will really give full power to the horns. i have seen several people just replace their stock horns with the hellas and, while that does work, they definitely won't be as loud as they can be.

take a look at my signature and check out my horn thread. a lot of good info on there.

cheers.

now that my cathodes + leds are in, I think this will be my next mod... I want to install 2 sets of these horns like I had on my old xb so I have to find a location where I can mount them and they can still be visible but won't be destroyed by road debris...

hmmm...

Where are the Hella horns?
I've been so busy with work that I haven't had time to work on them yet I've barely driven the car too... March 29 made it 1 year of ownership and I'm only at 6,400 miles

I still want to do the horns.... just don't know when i'm going to.... I still dont even know where to mount the 2 sets that I want to install...

LOL, i should use vacation days for xb mods!

as for the miles, i bought the car because i wanted to take a couple of road trips but just haven't gotten around to it.

re: the motor mounts - is it a warranty repair or wear and tear? this is probably related to the other issues you mentioned before about your car like how it rattles everywhere, etc.

I have two rattles that i notice: one is in the driver side door which i still haven't gotten around to fix. when i play my music loud, something rattles in there. also happens when i go over some serious potholes.

2nd rattle is the windshield creak which is on the passenger side. again, i know the fix, just havent gotten around to it.

the one thing that i definitely noticed is that the car doesn't feel as "tight" as my gen 1 xb.... that car felt like 1 piece compared to my 2013... but im not complaining, it's still a great car despite the 22.3 mpgs im getting.
