The interior sure does scratch easy! DOH!
Yep... I scratched the crap out of the outer shifter bezel (the piece that has the Hazard Lights button in it)...
I didn't just knock the paint off either, it gouged.
Do NOT drop your keys on the dash!
Anyone know the part number or what the replacement will cost me?

I scratched up my glovebox door and the black plastic side of the shifter console installing my new H/U...
Bums me out! Oh well, I'll probably just wrap it in ultrasuede when I come up on some $$$$.

Yeah, I could repaint it....
BUT, I'd have to sand it down first as the scratch is a gouge.
Anyone know the paint-codes for the interior pieces?
I could go ahead and paint the outsides of it Black to match the rest of the dash or just repaint it the stock silver. I haven't decided yet.
If I do go black, i'll paint the smooth sides, leave the relief silver and paint the recessed parts in the middle black as well.
And yea xseveredveganx... It SUCKS!... Drives me freaken crazy every time I get in the car! uuuggghhh!!
I found out that the part number is 55413-12540 and it costs $97!!

I scratched the fudge out of my steering wheel Column, Its really dark in the xB and whenever i get in the car i guess im used to the old placement of the ingnition key, but man i just looked at the Column above the key hole . Its scratched to hell! anyone else have this problem?
I don't know about the textured spray paint but probably would not do the truck bed lining. I did a subwoofer enclosure with that stuff and it turned out great. But I think that look belongs on the exterior for the most part. It's too rough in texture.
After spending money on the bed liner, brushes (or roller), etc you might be a good way toward just buying the new part from your dealer. Better yet you might want to try getting a quote from one of the online dealers for the part. They might give you a discount.
...btw I scratched the lid to the center console when I was putting the passenger seat back in place the first time I did it. I'm glad you can olnly see it if you're in the back seat but I'm probably the only person who knows it's there. I had to take the seat out again but remembered to put a blanket over the console. Worked like a charm.

Any specific part dealers that you would recommend I contact??
You can actually get that bed-liner stuff in a spray-can nowadays, but i'd have to apply many light coats to get it right.
And yeah, I hear you about the blanket... Live and learn!!

for scratches in the plastic trim on your box.... i haven't tried this, but have heard that it works great. another member posted this a while back..
get yourself a small peice of leather with a tecture that is close to the texture of say the glove box.. i have a leather jacket that i use when i ride my harley, matches the texture almost exactly... now take your hairdryer /heat gun outside and slowly and gently heat up the scratch untill it gets a tiny bit soft.. if you are using a heat gun, proboby 3-4 secsonds is good.... once the scratch is heated, take your leather and press it into the scratch, the texture of the leather will hide the scratch, and the heat will help soften the plastic enough to hide it. you may have to do 2 passes to get it to blend properly, but i have heard this work like nothing other.
if you want to do a search, search for interior scratch removal in this site, and i am sure the original post will come up.
