Default Modifying Cigarette Port

I was wondering if anyone has attempted or done a "mod" on the cigarette lighter port. I hate how theres only one and can only have one thing plugged in unless you buy a splitter. I've purchased splitters but dont like the clutter down there. Is there anyway to tap into the line and install a second port? I have my phone plugged into the slot for charging and also have a police scanner that uses the port as well and dont like having to unplug it. Hence why I want another port.

Anyone done it or know if the fuse could handle two ports? Thanks to anyone who can help.

Your fuse should handle the radio reciever and charger just fine; there are add on 12v plugs at places like partsexpress.com; a cleaner option might be to get a panel mount usb and find a 12v to 5v converter that you can tap into the cig wires with. Either those little plastic clip taps or good old solder and heat shrink to the wires for the cig lighter and you're done.

Your comment about the mounted USB port actually made me think bout my built in one. I have a pioneer 2400bt unit and of course lost the use of the stock USB/aux ports. Is there anyway to bring those ports back to life with an adapter??

https://www.scionlife.com/forums/scion-xa-xb-1st-gen-ice-interior-1616/howto-hardwire-12v-accessories-your-scion-gps-radar-78783/ - check this out. this guy installed a dual cig lighter port in his gen 1 xb to hardwire a couple of accessories in. it doesn't seem too difficult and the parts are pretty cheap on amazon... fwiw.

I got my 12v socket powering my in dash android tablet and my cellphone at the same time. There's a nut right behind the 12v socket that connected my power wire to for another socket, then grounded it behind the left kick pannel.

I'll probably do that if I can't find an adapter for my stock USB/aux port. Wanna switch it back on for iPod as well. Hate having to run the wire across the climate controls and gear to the radio.

I'll try to do a write up on my full tablet and sub woofer install as soon as it's completed. Right now all I got is the tablet installed and powered. I gotta wire up the rest, but it may take a bit.

Sounds good man I wanna see how you ran your stuff.. I need to replace my wires for amp as well. Wanna run a new route getting too much interference the way the shop ran them.

I purchased an additional plug from pep boys. Hoping to install it when I get the chance.... Busy with work. Also looking to install some RCA and a receptacle for a video game system (super Nintendo) :D to my head unit. Can anyone point out where I can find the RCA+power plug dash?

I added 3 extra to my xb. Here's my write up about it. I haven't had any problems and it's been a few years. I added one into the bottom of the center console so people in the back would have power too.

I've also purchased a few of these that work great for USB charging and sit almost flush in the outlet.
