Default Need help! steering wheel controls on aftermarket HU

Hi All,

I went to test drive my scion today.Put the down payment on a 09 blackberry crush.

I have an avic D3 that i will be pulling out of my old car and into the scion. I understand i need the brackets to fill the gaps and the wiring kit.

Is there anyway to use the stock controls on the steering wheel (mode, volume, tuner) with the avic D3? what kind of mod do i need?

Also, the car i test drove, the volume switch and tuner switch did not light up. Only the Mode button was lit with the orange. Is that supposed to be like this? For some reason, i was under the impression that these buttons would be illuminated. Please let me know!

Thank you for your help!!

Only the mode light will light up. You'll need a PAC controller that works for the pioneer. Just a few splice and it'll work with the HU. Be warned that there will be a lag between pressing the buttons and the response.

For all you guys that used the pacswi-ps for the pioneer HU, did you have to buy the wireless remote to program it/

I was reading on crutchfield that i needed the remote, but i called bestbuy and they said i did not need the remote.

any clarification on this/
thanks

you'll need the PAC SWI-PS, which is a wired remote for Pioneer headunits. You don't need a wireless remote to program
