Has anyone wired aftermarket fog lights without using the OEM fog light wires and going through the firewall?

I purchased fog/driving lights combo.... and it has a unique switch. I was thinking to install the switch on the right of the stick shift where is a blank plug.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
