Congrats, it looks great! What type of material did you use? I've been toying around with the idea of going with a black suede headliner. I'd love to go with a color but I've got red leather, might be too much.

 

I used microsuede (synthetic) it's alot more forgiving in the curves than real suede. It's glued with 3M #90 adhesive (which I might add is NOT forgiving) while I had it out I also went nuts on the roof with e-dead. It's damn quiet now. Course the real test will be in the rain (or a carwash)

That's sweet. It contrasts well with the gray Oh-Sh*t handles. I think dying the overhead console was a great idea as well.

Also, thanks for the before pic. It confirms that a sub enclosure in the roof has something to attach to.

The factory headliner seems to be some cloth like texture. Did you have to remove this or did you glue right onto the existing factory material?

I too would like to know how the removal of the headliner went. If you could share any thoughts on it that would be awesome. Also, where did you get the fabric for your project? If online, can you share the site name?

It's glued directly to the headliner with 3M#90 (not forgiving stuff so make damn sure of your placement) as for removal, pull all the door gaskets, the a,b and c pillars, the OS handles, visors etc.... Mind the wires that are taped to the headliner on each side and it'll slide right out the back. and since your playing near the airbags, disconnect the neg battery cable before you do anything.

Oh yeah, all the fabric was bought at JoAnn Fabrics, I grabbed 4 yards of microsuede.

 

if i understand correctly, you removed the head liner and then used 3m to adhere the fabric directly to the factory headliner? how much time was involved in this and coast?

My little bits of advice from when I did mine.
Having a second set of hands is almost a must with pulling it out and definitely a must on that way back in to avoid scratching the suede. It is a pretty tight fit in a couple of spots.

I just recommend a helper and take your time coning out that back hatch. Also watch out for the grease that is under the rear hatch rubber seal. There is not a lot, but it is there and it would be a drag to get that on your new fabric!

If you are considering this mod I say go for it, It is a fairly inexpensive mode that makes a huge difference!
