Wondering if anyone had upgraded from the stock Pioneer (with BT) to the newer Pioneer with the touchscreen? Are you happy with it? Was it worth the extra cash? I was looking for some videos of it in action but didnt have any luck. I know most people go aftermarket but I like not having to buy all those adapters and I'm not looking for DVD or nav really...

My wife and I just recently traded in our old cars for a 2012 XB and a 2012 XD, both of them came with the upgraded Pioneer touchscreen which was pretty cool. We love it, it works great for Bluetooth, iPhone, Pandora. Very nice display and easy to operate. I am used to installing aftermarket stereos in my cars but with this one I have no need to replace the head unit because it does everything I need very nicely. Plus it has the RCA preouts so additional amps and subwoofers etc can easily be added. Actually I also just figured out tonight that I could hook up a back up camera to it so that is my new project. Most dealers down here install one thing on most of the Scions, I would highly recommend looking for this unit as it is pretty sweet and very expandable and the dealer price is not bad when compared to other things they overcharge for.

 

It looks awesome, functions great and sounds good too. Iphone interface shows album artwork which is great. The same goes for Pandora, although with a limited data plan on my phone I'll probably not use Pandora often. There is also some way to hook up a video source to it, although there is very little on that in the manual. The bluetooth interface is great and it lets you dial directly from the touch screen as well as seeing who is calling on the screen. All of your phone contacts get synched to the head unit. Bluetooth audio is great with my Iphone. I can play music without plugging anything in. HD radio also sounds great.

Are you talking about the pioneer that has the **** and phone, music note icons on the left side?

 

i am glad mine came with it, the bluetooth syncs very easily, I have also read in the manual where you can hook a video source to it, and even with the factory 2.4v preouts for amps, it sounds pretty good, even has a sub level out. I have mine out now, only because I liked my old kenwood excelon with parametric eq and 4v preouts.

 

I picked up the new AVH p4400BH.. It's AMAZING.. a VERY reasonably priced compared to getting one from the dealership.. Full touchscreen DVD, HD radio, Full ipod control built in bluetooth.. The only thing it doesn't have is nav.. But there is an upgrade unit available... and, it has 3- 4volt RCA outputs as well for expansion... it has a 599 retail and I've seen it here locally for 450.. its a STEAL!! I'm sure I can do a quick vid.. just let me know what you want to see...

 

I have the 4400BH also and I love it, I upgraded from the factory touch screen alpine. I had tried a few different touch screens in my last car and was never happy with any of them. I think of all the features though, my favorite is that at night time I can press the mode button and it turns the screen off so I don't have the bright light in m eyes when driving. I get pretty bad night blindness and this helps so much. I got mine from crutchfield for $499 shipped with the free install kit and harness.
