Default Upgraded Pioneer HU - Alphabetical Search?

Is there a way to scan through the artists faster than that just scrolling like an alphabetical search like on an iPod when you scroll super fast it just goes to different letters? It takes forever to find an artist by scrolling on the upgraded Pioneer HU and I'm sure there is a better way.

if you hate doing that then you can switch the headunit to iPod Direct Control mode. turn off the HU (with the PWR button no tricks here) and press and hold the MENU button. it will beep and a "secret" menu will pop up. turn the dial over to IPOD and "click" the dial (press in?). and it will turn on the iPod Direct Control. now you can select songs with the iPod.

if you dont like that option then there really is no other way.. even some of the top head units like the avic d3 have the same clumsy slow scrolling

I guess I will have to deal with the clumsy scrolling then. Using the iPod while driving just doesn't seem safe to me.
