Urban Cruiser steering wheel swap and Corolla back up camera install
I haven’t had a lot of chance to post things I’ve done to my 2nd xB, but this one drove me crazy so figured I would share in case it makes others mad like me
I hated that our cars got less than the other cars, the rear lamps reflectors “I added the brake and taillights leds to mine”
I swapped the basic Pioneer radio for the Aha bespoke BS which shrug now I’m like I should have just went aftermarket, but I did miss how my Ford Sync worked with being able to tell it to play a song…. I decided against the basic back up camera and went with the Corolla back up camera that replaces a tag lamp also has led so it matched the ones I had changed out and didn’t have to drill or cut into the car.
I hated hate hated how we have no phone and speak button on the wheel, well the ole Urban Cruisers overseas do, so I swapped for one of them which is also wrapped in leather and is a bit thicker than the basic gross xB factory one, it lights up the same as our stock xB and all is direct swap plug and play and uses our Scion xB airbag, the downside is finding one that ships to the US.
I paid 28.00 for the wheel and 45.00 for shipping and took it 2 weeks to show, and less than 30 to have it fixed the way it should have been from the start.
I’ve done some other small basics, like the fog lights and the under-dash led’s and the under seat passenger sub it works good enough for me and saves space and stays oem looking and the carbon styled cobra auto hood mask to save on chips, loving my 2nd xB so far
Hopefully these few tips help someone else who might be annoyed as much as me by getting less than other places did
I have the newerish oem style radio "2014 Fr-S" that I got on ebay, so I had to use the harness to use the camera, if your aftermarket and have the normal set up you could likely bypass all of that mess!
I got the camera from ebay the seller has 1 left in stock "keywords to look for is" Car CCD Reverse View Backup Camera HD LEDs For Toyota Corolla AURIS Sienna Scion and I bought from a seller named etomall, there's some others but the cables didn;t look as long and as complete so maybe that's why they were under 19.99 and I didn't want to risk having to buy more cables as I seem to buy tons of cables now days with this 2011
I went with the Auto Harness House 7549-T 16 pin Backup Camera Harness (With Reverse Trigger) for my oem style setup and it was only like 24.00 - 27.00 or so for the harness to plug into the.
I wasn't sure if we should post links or not so hopefully that helps!
Hope you get it all going and set up soon, also side note the Corolla tag camera requires a little finess to get into the slot without removing the tag cover garnish but it can be done with a little paticence vs risking removing the garnish as I've heard it's ok remove it and no don't so I didn't want to risk it, my stingray had the fluh mount in the rear bumper looked like a small eye in it and was neat but didn't want to drill a hole in this one's bumper and this style doesn't stand out like that one did also
