Default 08' XB purchase help

I was going to look at a 2008 Scion XB tomorrow and wanted to get some pointers on what to look for.

Also, I wanted to get your opinon on the price tag as well..

2008 Scion XB Automatic

25,000 miles

1 owner

99% condtion inside and out. Sorry but I dont have any upgrade info at the moment. The private seller is asking $12,500, would you say this is a fair price? The seller says he does have service records

Also, I was told it still has a waranty, would this be transferable to me?

Thank you so much! Cool forum! first post but im sure if I buy I will be a active member.

If it's bone stock with the base radio, then $12k would be reasonable... not great, but reasonable. If it has the premium head unit and/or any other upgrades then $12,500 seems OK for a private party price.

The factory bumper-to-bumper warranty is 3 years or 36k miles, which ever comes first. The factory powertrain warranty is 5 years or 60k miles, which ever comes first. The warranty time period starts on the date of original sale. The '08 xB first went on sale in mid-2007, so even though the mileage is well below 36k, it could be almost out of the bumper-to-bumper warranty depending on the date of sale.
If the owner has an extended service contract, then you would have to read the fine print to see if it is transferable.

Wow, that's really something!

I have about 4K on my 2008, and a host of mods with more accumulating. However, I've no clear sense of what it would be worth either trade-in or sale. I've the suspicion it's much the same situation as my 1990 Eclipse GSX, although it's worth plenty to me, trying to get anywhere near that from a potential buyer is probably hopeless !

The warranty is transferable but as Cionide said be sure to check the initial sales date as that is when the warranty started. Also don't forget you have the option of purchasing an extended warranty up until the original warranty expires.
