Default 2008 xB AVN Deck

Does anyone have any idea what deck Scion is offering as an option in the 2008 xB? I see something pictured in the accessories at http://www.scion.com/nextgen/ but I can't seem to find it myself. I really like the look of it -- it would be great if it worked with my 2006.

my guess is that it's a modified eclipse platform. it is apparant that the avn is specifaclly for the scion. eclipse makes all of toyotas other nav systems.

my question (and i know the answer is no) is do i get bluetooth when i get nav?

Are you out of your mind?! It doesn't look anything like alpine- other than the fact it has a screen (like every AVN).

I agree. Definitely looks like eclipse- the "sound menu" is exactly the same as in the Toyota AVN systems, as are several other features/menus.

I seriously doubt if you will get bluetooth. Would be nice if it was at least available as an add on.

Rich, any info you can provide would be greatly appreciated. I really like the look of that deck and the ui from the shots of seen so far. If its a plug and play setup with ipod setup I would jump on it as soon as I can buy one.

I don't know about the AVN compatibility, but all 2008 model Scions come with iPod hookup standard. Then you have two different upgrades from the standard radio.

i'd love to know more about the avn also. It would be really sweet if it can also play the video and photos from the ipod and display it on the AVN screen.. I do part time photography and it would be great to be able to show clients photos in my ipod from the avn screen..

The latest one I have is the black and white opne with the air freshener in it. What is the part number of the new brochure?

and yeah, check the press kit and let us know.

matter of a fact, if you could scan it and post it all up, that would be AWESOME!

well considering Alpine doesnt make a true all in one dash/nav unit, the I doubt its Alpine.

the brochure and website call it AVN, which is the abbreviation for all of Eclipse's "Audio, Video, Navigation" systems...

Is this one of those statments that just holds true without proof?

Toyota and family has used Eclipse head units historically. Also Eclipse units are named AVN-????. So i just find it hard to believe that Scion (AKA Toyota !!!) would scarp that relationship and go with an Alpine unit.

Any proof or logical reasoning would be appreciated seeing I am just as eager to figute it all out as everyone else....?

It's more interesting that they're also offering the xD with the AVN, since it makes the xD the only car in its class with an OEM nav unit.

Where did you read that the xD comes with the AVN over the stock am/fm/cd/ipod deck? On the scion.com/nextgen site it lists the standard oem deck under features and the avn under accessories.

I'm hoping I can talk my mom into financing the AVN HU and giving it to me to put in my 06 xB and her keeping the OEM 08 HU.

Pretty good idea, right? I'm assuming I'll need harness help but thats the good part about having a friend that works for Metra.

PART NUMBER(for the latest brochure): 00430-mag09-07A

There are 3 HU's available on both the xD and xB:

1) The standard one: It is essentially the same as the upgraded unit available in the 06's, but restyled.

2) The upgrade unit: brand new Pioneer unit with a miniscreen for that plays clips, and has RCA outputs on the back

3) The AVN. Navi system.

I wonder if the AVN will have the RCA outputs for adding amps to the system like the middle upgrade will have?

For those who actually know, if you have a Navi ... do you still need to run a seperate antenna for satellite radio? An antenna like the ones you get in the over the counter kits that are magnatized. Anyone, Bueller?
