I wonder if the AVN will have the RCA outputs for adding amps to the system like the middle upgrade will have?
Already confirmed that it does not.

I wonder if the subplug will work for the AVN head unit.

I have informed my district rep about the mass suckage that this is. I'm just glad I thought to find out so I can let my customers who are interested know...without learning the hard way.

That pretty much ruins my hopes of picking this up. I guess I will look at the standard eclipse units available. It's too bad because the UI looks great and I love the design of the unit. I guess you have to trade that for lack of i/o cabling. Doh!

Seems like a waste of money getting that upgrade at the dealer IF it is more or less a crippled Eclipse unit.

yes. It will be available for the 08 tC, so you should be able to get one for your 06.

Uhm no. Only the Pioneer premium. The standard and the AVN will not.

The Scion navigation unit is an Alpine unit, the xB guru @ the Backstage event told me and showed me the owner's manual. Only the premium stereo will have pre-outs as I asked that too.

If you go to scionofPCFL's profile and look at all of his posts you will discover all of the information you shared and a whole lot more.

The answer is NO. The 2008 headunits will not back date for any model. I received 3 press releases to this effect. Sorry!

I find it hard to believe that you wouldn't be able to put the new AVN in an 06 tC. I don't know why you would do it, but it's difficult to see how you couldn't do it.

Well realistically you can put any head unit in any car. The point here is that none of the 08 head units are going to be plug & play for any of the preceding years. I would assume that they changed the wiring. If you wanted to install the SNS it would probably take wire splicing, etc instead of just being able to directly plug it in.
