2008 XB inconsistency
I see two different versions of the 2008 XB and am not sure which the final version will look like.
In one of the pics downloaded at scion.com, notice how the front pillars along the front window are the same color as the body:

In other pictures, the front pillars are black (no matter what the car color):

I wonder if the black pillars are just in the prototype version..
Does anyone actually like the black pillars over pillars that match the body color?

I seriously doubt they mask off those pillars during painting, it is probably an applique of some kind. There is paint underneath, I am sure you could expose it if you went McGuyver.
Also, I see the A piller covered in both your pics...I don't see any difference except for lighting...

I like how they shot these two pictures. It looks like you were at bar and thought about driving home but, then you saw how lovely your new car looks, all alone. Then you pass out and there it is in the AM. Right in the parking lot where you slept.
I'll miss my Corolla

the scion.com pic looks enhanced on a computer and the 2nd photo with an actual background looks like the real thing.
prototype vs production questions will be answered real soon.

the production version at the NYC Auto show had black A pillars. the pic is deceiving the way the light is shining off that area.

At the risk of sounding too much like Fiero
can you imagine the outcry from the first gen people if all of the people who are interested in the 2nd gen xB were making off topic hate posts in the 1st gen forum. Clearly the forum rules are just window dressing.
On topic:
I agree that in all the cases the A pillar looks body colored it is just a lighting thing. I think they are all black. I noticed on the official photos of the Teal it really looks body color, but if you look near the top you can see the line.

The scion next gen picture . . . .
Trust a photographer. That is the softbox that lights the image. they are HUGE (some are 30-40 feet across and are suspended above the car with lights inside. That is why there is little reflection.
