09 must be same as 08.
by law, they can change part( light headlight, tail light) only in first 2 year, and whole model in after 4th year.
that's what i hear...

 

Don't mean to be argumentative, but what law prevents a company from doing anything like that. As long as all the safety/smog stuff is ok I think they can do what they want. Let me know if there is really a law that says Scion can't change for 2 model years. Thanks.

 

Yeah there is no such law....Automakers can change whatever whenever.

 

It's not a law, it's just Toyota's usual cycle. Release car, refresh halfway through life cycle, then redesign/replace. Toyota stated the cycle for Scions would be 4 years.

However, the gen1 xB never got refreshed, so *shrugs*.

 

well the gen 1 got some stuff, in 06 the steering wheel changed designs, and ipod capabilty became standard, there were a couple other little things i cant remember though.

 

^ actually the iPod capability was an 06 option.

The 2006 Scion xB receives a new steering wheel with audio controls, and the Pioneer audio system has a new head unit design and remote mini-jack port for portable music sources. Additionally, the xB wagon offers dedicated Apple iPod connectivity, which delivers iPod display information and allows unit control and recharging through the audio system. In other news, the xB's horsepower rating drops from 108 to 103 due to new SAE testing procedures.

 

So when is the 09 comming out?

 

Scion hasnt announced when the 09 will be released but people seem to be speculating around august.

 

i got my 08 XB in May of 07, and I plan on trading it in once the 09 comes out...i'm guessing May. Also depends on the purchasing power/location of the Scion Dealership for early delivery.

 

It came out so early in 08 because it was a new model and scion hadnt made and xB's in 07 so they needed to fill the gap quick. I think they were first released the last part of april, so i doubt the 09's will be out any sooner then the end of may.

but if you want to see about what it will look like, just head down to your nearest scion dealer and ask to see a 08, cause minus a few very small changes it should be pretty much the same.

 

I went to the NY Car Show and I asked 1 of the Scion reps when the 09's were coming out and what changes would they have. He told me that the 09's should be coming out the end of April/begining of May. He said the only real change will be an additional color - a more metallic silver.

 

a more metallic silver what the heck is that supposed to mean? classic silver is metalic, is it going to be the same shade, or darker? Hopefully a dark gray like the galactic gray on the tC rs4 or whatever

 

That's all he said "a more metallic silver" I guess we have to wait and see what shade of silver. I mainly wanted to know when they would be coming out and if a moonroof would be a factory option. My dealer can put one in but I would feel better if it came from the factory.

 

If they do anything they need to add another gear to the auto tran's! 5 Speed please sheesh!
