Default 2nd Replacement Windshield

Yesterday My 2nd windshield lost the battle to the rocks. This was the third windshield that I have had since I got the car in October. I love this car, but this is irritating. I'm hope I'm not the only one.

Default Common Problem on xB's

I purchased a leather hood mask and that was when my chips ceased. I would suggest some kind of deflector for the hood. Trust me it's cheaper than replacing windows. I have an 04 1st gen but same issue.

I just got my first replacement done today. Windshield guy said that it looked like the weak point on our windshield was where the black trim was.

I suppose that's why they call them Windshield and not "Rockshields"...

I'm still on my first one, but its still got that rock chip I got 5 mins from pulling out of the dealership. I'm sure eventually I'll replace it.

Go to ebay and type in Scion xB front end mask. I am not sure if they have the 08 mask yet but try. Don't wait on this if you want to save your window and hood from chips. It might not be 100% but it cost about $50 for mask , window ?????? I'm sure you know. Also there are some places/body repair shops that can fix the chips in the windshield but not cracks it's usually about $55-65 to fill the chipped glass.

I got the dealer to replace it the first time, but I don't think I'm going back. It was $400, just for the windshield.

Hey guys I work for Allstate auto claims, if the chip/ crack in the glass is less than a dollar bill in length / size, you can get it repaired, rather than replaced. Just call your insurance carrier and let them know you need to file a glass only claim, and when they put you through to their glass service provider, let them know you would like to get the glass REPAIRED, your deductible won't apply if it is repaired and it doesn't go through to underwriting so your premium isn't affected....just thought I'd let you know.

Now like for me, I have $100 Comprehensive deductible, but does that cover windshields as well? It seems like it would be but I don't know. Be nice to know if it does crack I only pay $100.

Yeah any damage to your glass as the result of Vandalism, rock chips, falling/flying objects, animals, etc. will be considered a Comprehensive claim and your Comp deductible would apply only in the event that the windshield NEEDS to be replaced.

Another advantage of simply getting the glass repaired is that it maintains the factory seal.

Thanks for clarifying that up for me!

Yeah, I would definitely prefer it to be repaired rather then replaced, thats for sure!

That might work in Omaha, Nebraska, but on a California freeway 6-8 cars have changed into my lane in front of me.
