Default Advice on buying new xB

Hey guys, just need any advice you can give me on getting a new xB. Is there anything you wish you would have known or done or not done when getting yours? Anything i should look out for?

My main thing right now is that some parts are a bit cheapy... which i saw the thread that addressed this and i guess it makes sense that some corners have to be cut to make the car a bit less expensive. I just will have to upgrade as i go along. And when i test drove it the stereo wasn't as great as it could have been - maybe i had the settings wrong but it sounded like it was all coming from under the hood like my engine was having a pretty sweet party. haha

But anyways, you get the idea. I grrreeeatly appreciate any and all suggestions and advice you can give me.

Get it bone stock, maybe add the wing if you don't want to install it yourself.
Hit the switch the head uint to "Feel" it will sound better. Def don't get the Nav head unit,
over priced and you can't add a back up camera, no inputs.

The stock sound system sucks, the suspension has TONS of body roll & who ever designed the windshield visors should have been shot.

My advise is to buy it with no options (except maybe with the premium radio).

I highly recommend getting the TRD sway bar (online). The stock suspension is quite scary when you go around loops or take corners "fast". It felt like I was going to flip over until I installed my TRD springs/sway-bar.

Also make sure you have some extra cash for replacement tires. The stock ones suck (most new cars do). I have 11k on mine and they are getting really noisy .

Other than that its a great vehicle with lots of potential. G/L!

I agree get it BONE stock. You can find parts much cheaper. alot of aftermarket companies make better quality parts than trd which is what the dealer sellls you.

I would reccomend getting the trd intake just to stay safe in case u get pulled over your from the 310 so in cali there crackin down hard right now on ALL mofidified imports.

the only thing I hate is the interior plastic pieces scratch very easy

Rear sway bar is a win on any car you get. I don't know why they just don't make the cars come with the good ones to begin with!

Look over the inside and outside of the car with a fine tooth comb. I found a big chunk in the plastic that was scratched in the back and it's a lot harder to get dealerships to get it fixed after you've driven off the lot. If you've had any hail storms in the area, check it over real well.

I wish I'd gotten the Premium radio and the spoiler rolled into my loan - now I have to save up to get them. but I agree, otherwise get it stock. It's cheaper to get items afterwards, INCLUDING the floor mats.

You might think about getting some sort of GAP too if you're going to be paying on this for awhile, so that if you get hit by another car and totalled, you won't be upside down. You can check out your dealers GAP and your own insurance's GAP and see if one is better for you. The piece of mind from me buying GAP is well worth it and I rolled it into my loan. It was really the only add I had.

Awesome guys, thanks for the quick replies.

So far I am planning on the spoiler and premium audio. I've heard from many that Navi is just not used enough to rationalize 2000 dollars so thats out the window.

I'm leaving NC in February and taking my car coast to coast so I'm hoping that we dont get any crazy weather here that takes bites out of the car before i take her to a more friendly climate in L.A..

Keep them coming. I'm not looking to race anyone, i just want a clean looking car with a nice little sound system. Btw, for the Cali folks, are HID's legal back home or will I be destroyed by cops?

Thanks again.

EDIT: Oh yeah and is this car as easy to take apart as i always heard the tC is?

HID are illegal, BUT i have never heard of anyone getting a ticket for them... Keep it to a 4300 or 5000 and you should be fine...

And the car is as easy as legos...

don't get any audio-just the stock. Look at the Pioneer Avic-F series (the 700 is cheap) or the Kenwood series. For the extra 300 dollars you'd spend on it you can get a really nice touch screen player!
