Default Allstate classifies 2008 xB as a 2008 tC

So I have to pay insurance for a sports car (actually two sports cars now - my other car is a sports car).

They said the 2008 xB is not in their system yet.

yeah.. it's always a hassle with insurance companies sometimes when new cars comes out..

for the longest time.. i think geico had the tC listed under the old chrysler TC car from back in the day....

hope they get that sorted out soon.... insurance as a sports car when it clearly isn't kinda sucks...

Default and my xB is a Camry!

When I called to get the xB added to our policy (and the old car dropped), the agent called the underwriter and they have my wife's insured as a Camry, for now. I had to laugh as it doesn't look like a Camry, does it?

The agent said they would credit back any overcharges as soon as the 08 xB shows in their computer but as long as they have it covered, who cares?

We are NOT talking bush league, small time insurers here, folks. Oh, well.

I own an insurance agency and we represent 4 different auto insurance companies and none of them have the rating factors for the 2008 Xb. It really is not the insurance companies fault. The insurance companies base the rates on the cost for repairs and parts provided by Toyota until there is enough real world data. This happens anytime a new car model is introduced. It happened recently with the new BMW 335 and last year with the Lexus IS. It should be no big deal for any insurance company. The rates should be based on the cost of the vehicle and the new safety features. Most companie will rate it manually. It should be comperable to the Camry. Make sure you guys tell your insurance company that it comes STANDARD with side and side curtain airbags and ABS. The airbags are not standard on the Camry or TC and if they base the rate on the 2006 Xb it will show no sde airbags available. And if they don't believe you about the airbags show them the window sticker. The airbag discount is big so don't leave the money on the table. By the fall all the companies should have the data to rate the new Xb correctly.

Well I don't know why you guys are having so much trouble....

State Farm not only had my car in their system... but after changing my insurance on the car from the 2006 xB to the 2008 I was able to save about $40 a month.

This is with maintaining all the exact same coverages.
