Who doesn't remember the moment when "cheap" wheels got so expensive?

I mean, I remember watching friends pick up new sets of rotas for $400 just a few years ago! Now places want $900 or more?!?

Sorry for the rant, but honestly, I'm curious if I am just crazy or not.

 

I think it was right around when Sportmaxx changed their name to XXR. Yeah, new wheel prices suck, and it's hard to justify dropping $2k for rims and tires on a car who's MSRP new was under 14.

Exactly. I'm glad I found my TRD's used for a dirt cheap price. They're not the prettiest wheels, but I don't really care. They work for what they are.

My Q45, though... that's getting expensive wheels.

 

Hopefully I will be able to find something used once I get my tax return back! I just cant justify paying almost a grand for some freaking rotas.

 

dont know never reallly looks at those wheels. I would rather save money for better wheels. they raised the prices becuase people are buying it..

I just know a guy who knows a guy who I did a favor for lol.

I called my buddy at xxr he pretty much told me that people wanted better made wheels so they made the wheels better... now the price reflects it as far as xxr goes.

 

good thing i got mine for 80buks i wouldnt pay 900 for rotas

 

also a reflection of aluminum prices skyrocketing over the last several years.

16's can look great with a good drop. Even better slammed on some coilovers. Hooopefully the hotchkis drop is enough for me to pull off my 16's :D

A friend and I just bought wheels and he got rotas for $430 shipped. eBay is a really good friend.
