Default Bike Rack/Hitch

I'm trying to find the best way to transport a few bikes. Haven't done much research, this is my first stop. I saw a $35 bike hitch attachment at Wal-Mart, but I dont have a hitch, not sure how much that would cost. Would a bike rack (Yakima makes them I think) be a better alternative?

I installed a Curt hitch and a Hollywood Pro Rider Rack. The Curt hitch is definitely the way to go, it just bolts up to existing holes in your frame. As for the rack, it would be a matter of preference. I went with the Hollywood rack because I didn't want anything touching my bikes. The rack holds 2 bikes and attaches the bikes extremely well with nothing touching the carbon frames!
