Default brakes going already?

Ive had my xb for just over 6 months now. just recently I heard my brakes squeaking. I only have 9900 miles on the car and it just seems a little soon for the brakes to me going. any suggestions?

Take it to the dealer...I think wear items only have a 10k or 12k mile warranty.

Brake squeak does not necessarily mean worn out. It might just need servicing (cleaned & lubricated).

Lubricating the brakes???? It just doesn't sound right when you talk it out.

Well I guess its where you put the lubrication, on the friction surface "bad", on the "ears" of the pads, "good". From my experience most brake noise comes from a slight rust buildup on the edge of the rotor rubbing against the pad edge like a tuning fork, hence the noise. Often sanding the pad surface ever so slightly & machine the rotors (if not replacing) will cure the noise. Adding lubrication between the pad shims & the back of the pads, also on the ears of the pads will help reduce any chance of noise occurance leading to many miles of quiet braking.
